I have a couple of sources in the club. All year their feedback was most consistent on these two points

“The tigers are training the house down”

“The players seem to respect Madge”

So, Madge works them super hard and isn’t their mate.

I have zero doubt Madge is a tough task master. I have zero doubt some players won’t like that. In fact some won’t have the bodies to cope with it (like Inglis)

But. Every tigers fan out there KNOWS the Tigers need to toughen up.

Somehow we became a soft bellied club. The opposite of our dual roots.

I know we have a tough three years coming under Madge. Culture change takes years.

It will separate the men from the boys. One little boy has had a tantrum and thrown his toys out of the cot already after only one season, let’s see if any others do as well. The ones that hang in there will reap the reward big time and hopefully be stronger, fitter and more capable players in the long run because that’s what this club so desperately needs.

But it is not "one". **If that report is true**, and it claims to have had it verified, then a group of senior players all went to the union about the issue.

We can't just say Matterson is having a sook. To be fair to Matterson also, he clearly put in every week.

Either a group of senior players did go to the union, or they did not. The club should clarify that as it clearly undermines the coach.

I find it strange that Danny didn't name these group of senior players in his article..ah no I don't...

If it's true why not name them...?

Have you got the number for the hotline?

A lot of people are pinning their hopes on Maguire building up a decent roster, so far his on addition was Jennings....an absolute lemon, I just don't know where the players we need are coming from a mate of mine from Qld told me jai arrow said he'd go to Syria before he went to the tigers

Generally where there's smoke theres fire...grubs mum told me weeks ago the players are filthty about training up till the GF...and Maguires hard nosed attitude....I was constantly hammered on here regarding ivan Cleary....didnt think he was much of a coach....thoughts about Maguire are pretty much the same, yes he won a comp at souths, but gilligan could have coached that team....I then saw him stuff that side

Sorry SC totally disagree...Souths in regards to Michael Maguire were an absolute rabble of a team before he was appointed their Coach...In the 10 years prior to his arrival, Souths only manage to make the top 8 once, during Madge’s tenure of 7 years it turned into 4 Finals appearances, 1 Grand Final win (which no Coach had manage to do since the 70s)...There is no doubt in my mind that Madge is the right fit for the WTs at this stage of our history, we have needed a strong disciplinarian Coach for a long time, and if the so called couple of disgruntled players don’t agree with his coaching methods then their obviously the wrong fit for our club.

I respect your opinion, guess we'll just have to see what happens....just dont think he'll have the calibre of players here, that he had at soufs

The caliber of players will come to the WTs...Madge just needs the time to implement his Coaching style and his influence on the culture/mind set etc etc on the club and don’t forget he also has a huge job cleaning up the mess that was created by Cleary with our salary cap.

That suggests to me Brad Fittler and the other selectors didn’t think he was a sook, OR as one of our forum’s more articulate and no doubt well-versed contributors suggested, a sycophant.

Geez, that's not much of an argument. There's been quite a few mongrels who played for NSW.

Let's face it, our club reeks of weak minds and that is backed up by how pathetic we've been on the field and in games when they are on the line. The fact our soft playing squad is upset with Madges tough approach to training doesn't surprise me. Once again playing squad, if you don't like it, too bad and suck it up or go dig holes for a living.

Last thing the club should do is but to that grub weeedler.... And even if they did and refuted it all I still have doubts on things the club says..... It's very hard to believe many thing in the nrl be it club, players, nrl. Itself or media... There's bs &, spin everywhere
Wouldn't surprise tho. If it's. All. Legit

Player burnout was the constant whisper out of Redfern.

You tell us it's not a rumour, it is "the reason", then your quote says "it's a rumour".

Unless I missed an English speaking class where "whispers" mean the same thing as "facts".

No clubs make statements against Weedler, they don't bother. He just throws so much crap, he's aching for a response, he wants to hit a nerve and go again. You just ignore the bloke, he's cancer.

Also, players talk and I'm sure they have a much better idea of what's really going on at clubs than what the media tries to guess. Some folks have concerns about how this affects "the Tigers brand", but the real concern in that regard is what other players actually think behind closed doors, not what the media tries to spruik.

Madge was appointed October 28 2018. That's 4 weeks AFTER the grand final. Tigers returned to pre-season training on November 19, after pre-season testing November 15.

On December 19 Tigers were fined by the NRL for Farahgate and received salary cap penalties, with Pascoe banned for 6 months.

Being encumbered with several high-profile and long-term Ivan Cleary signings, tell us precisely where in that sequence of events Maguire is supposed to purchase exciting new talent. Where is the time and where does the money come from?

I didn't realise the Syrian RLFA had such pulling power.

It is the junior signings and those players we sign on the cusp of the NRL which will have the biggest impact on the fortunes of our club. Also I would be looking closely at the improvement of our best juniors from last year. Building the roster from within is the only way we will strengthen our team.

Exactly and that’s why he’s doing an outstanding job with the tools that he has left to work with.

@pawsandclaws1 That is true, you have been mentioning this a lot throughout the year and I agree with you 100%

Agree paws. Need to keep adding talent in this department. Josh Kerr from dragons would be another decent pick-up. Dragons yet to offer him a deal.

Is it a crime on this forum now to actually have mates....you should try and find one some day

I might be in the minority but a coach that trains the house down with brutal sessions is exactly what we need. Weak will leave and players looking to battle will sign. It’s clearly weeding out weak players going to managers and the media. Snitches are the lowest form of life. The holiday is over and some can’t handle it the Club needs to back the coach 100%. We are not the Roosters we will never get the talent they have we need to win differently and Madge is smart enough to work it out.

Wow a player runs to his mum and complains about the coach. The mum then complains about the coach to whoever listens. With all this players injuries, he has bleed the club out of 1.5m and this is how he treats the club and fans. Nice of you to tell us what he really seems like. Not really professional from grub...but good of you to mention he is a leak

Maybe a quote from these players saying they went to the Union or naming the players would give the allegations some legs.

These innuendos and non facts do not have to be answered imo.
