Uate?

I think he might be a "money ball" type of purchase. He his probably past his best but will make the ugly yards early in a set and is a reasonable finisher.

For the right price I think he could add value to our team. His biggest asset will be the go forward he brings to complement Noffa.

Uate is on $450k if the Knights pay half then is a risk worth taking. He is physically gifted but looks to have lost interest. A change is as good as a holiday.

I do find it interesting that some people are poo-pooing Uate because he either isn't getting on w his current coach or is spending too much time in reggies in a team that isn't doing that great.

Then they talk about E Taylor being a priority.

Sure ET is important but they aren't necessarily competing for the same cap space and ET was in exactly Uate's position a few months ago.

And this afternoon a player that the vast majority on here and WT coaching staff were not fussed about in Fine, will line up against us.

On the fence regarding Uate, so not fussed either way.

Someone must see something, if this rumour has legs.
For me, watching the Knights play this year with Uate on the field, the opposition ran at him - invariably it was a missed tackle.

Well they kind of are competing for the same cap space, the whole squad has to fit under a single cap. ET wasn't in reggies because of his form, he was there because they bought Merrin. Uate is in reggies so Jake Mamo, Jaelen Feeney or some Mata'utia brother can run around in first grade.

After ET is signed - I would then look at Uate, see how much the Knights are going to pay and how much we have left over, if anything.

Personally I think he has too many mistakes, he may have been worth $450 sometime in his career (I don't think he ever was) but certainly not now. If that is what he is still asking - give him the flick. He is not worth more than Addo-Carr was ask to accept and he declined. What was that $180 … That is about his worth imo but I would definitely pass.

Maybe a change of scenery will be a good thing for Uate? He would have something to prove, being shunted in NSW Cup on his salary. I think this could work, not saying he is going to go back to his old NSW form.

In the modern game, attacking teams try to stretch the defence and put a winger away. This happen multiple times during any NRL. What I liked the way Ado Carr used his speed and craftiness to get in amongst the attacks. Sometimes a winger is required come in of his wing if there is an overlap. Sometimes he has to stay. Carr did this well. I would have preferred the WT to throw $200K at Carr than $200k at Uate. What's done is done I guess with Carr.
I've seen Uate make some big hits in defence. And there is no doubt his hit ups have much needed impact. We all ready have one winger who's decision making is a bit sus, don't think we need two.

If he can't make the Knights top 17 and they are stone motherless why should we sign him.

STOP THE ROT :sign:

I'm mates with Ali, and he's telling me that blocking the deal is not about the contract money and that there's more to it.

He tells me it's a chance he will come but there's a TWIST and he won't tell me yet, he'll put it on his page soon

I know Ali isn't the most trusted bloke but he doesn't BS me.

Willow mate, is there something you're hiding? Lol

Who is Ali and what is his connection to the club if you dont mind me asking?

No connection. He has an nrl rumour website.

Ado Carr does go backwards a lot when the defence wrangles him up. Carr is good in nearly all other areas. Uate does get some serious go forward, like Nofo. He'd be better than Rankin on the wing

Nofo is just about hopeless under the high ball..
Few games where his inability to catch the ball safely has led to tries

And teams continue to exploit it as he hasnt improved

Whoever suggested Rona - now he would be more like it. As for Uate - I am sick of the Tigers buying tired, old, non performing backs who have lost the hunger. I'd rather find a young gun with genuine speed and develop him (although we that opportunity with JAC).
As for the suggestion in the early posts that it was somehow either ET or Uate - how is that even worth considering? I'd be signing ET to a new 3 year deal right now.
