With Musgrove's record of getting into trouble he really needs to be more caredul than the average, sadly it looks like he is a very slow learner.
It is really headshaking stuff

Boys being... idiots.

The saving grace is it happening a few weeks out from the season and will give Madge a gold-plated opportunity to pass on the strongest of messages. I'm guessing these two will have their ears ringing for a few days.

There's nothing wrong with having a night out but once the Police are involved you've clearly over-stepped the mark.

Wasn't it Wayne Bennet who said something like 'nothing good ever happens (to footballers) after midnight'?

Great to see the DT can’t get the pictures correct. They put Tommy Talau’s image as AJ in the story.
The Telegraph has changed the pic to Musgrove but news.com still has the Tommy pic stating it as AJ

Very good point . Especially with potential lockdowns looming in the background . Also with Musgrove seeming like a Madge favourite , he can kick his ass , and keep everyone else I. Line at the same time .

Stay off the drink guys. Obviously can't handle it.

The irony of this post coming from “Cleanskin” can not be passed by. You may be uniquely qualified to comment

Clean skin doesn't always relate to alcohol. I could work in cosmetics.

Sounds like they refused to leave the pub and got fined. It's stupid but not much to worry about as long as they don't do anything worse in the future. Would be very surprised if they miss any games for it

Probably, but its next level stupidity, particularly Musgrove. To get to the point you refuse to leave, there needs to be high level of inebriation. That in itself at this stage of the pre-season is disappointing.

Could be the other way around. I went to a mates party at Panthers around the time we all turned 18. I hadn't been well and was pretty flushed. I got ejected from the place under suspicion of being drunk when I hadn't had anything to drink except for bottled water. Argued with them about it at length and they wouldn't give out.

I do agree with you though if they were paralytic this deep into pre season it's disappointing. I stop short of saying they should be banned from having a few though. I'm sure most of us would like to be able to have a beer after work if it doesn't interfere with out ability to work.

Hahaha who gives a toss , back in the day when Dallas Donnelly used to get around the traps , & blokes like liubinskus , they were real villains , let these boys alone , i have seen plenty of tosser bouncers down the Coogee bay over the years and they are real troublemakers

Be like letting Brooks loose at Hobbo's place ...a bottle of Bourbon and 14 sausage sangas later .....a hungover Brooks shows up wiping Worcestershire Sauce off his dial 4 hours late to training in Hobbo's Princess with 2 side panels smashed up and a half naked girl asleep in the back seat lol

and you were worried that Brooksie wasn't going to have a good season.

Didn’t all of zanes crap start and finish at the bay hotel ? Man , I would never set foot in that place again if I was him . I’d find another place to have a beer . Walk down to the Palace if that’s still open . Or better yet , get a bus to the city . Cause that place is clearly bad news

So non of you lot have ever been asked to leave an establishment while on the piss ..
Such Angel's we have amongst us ?

Yawn ?

Projecting much? Without exception every post has said its not a big deal, but it is concerning on other levels.

Are you happy with players getting this pissed at this stage of pre-season, a month out?

Are you happy with our players not having the sense to see what this might do to the perception of them or the club and just leave without fuss?

All concerns, but for mine the biggest issue is them then refusing to leave. It doesn't really matter if for whatever reason they thought they were being hard done by.

It's like the ref making a ruling, they were asked to leave and that should have been the end of it.

Idiots. Who doesn't leave an establishment when asked to? Stupid idiots.

Exactley,i was young and stupid once, but i was not a pro sportsman on $200 or $300,000 a year with the NRL constantly warning you of the consquences.i hope they get their arse kicked big time to set an example. The cops are here to protect the average person from idiots, respect must be given.I'M sick to death of this attitude from the young society.

The balmain ,Wests and Newtown boys spent a lot of time together at the Coogee bay,Motor Club etc,.I was a Glebe /Balmain boy at the time and some of the high profile payers now on commentary roles were some of the biggest heads of all time and were idiots and thugs. This has changed and must continue if the game is get acceptance from the public.

What I always think is so stupid is the players risking their career for the stupidest stuff.... like you're living the dream life being a footy player and you risk getting in trouble over not leaving the pub and getting drunk? Not worth the risk ?

lets hope we don't see any more negative press leading into the season and in reality both players should now be excluded from round 1 as a deterrent for the rest of the season, they do get mentored on acceptable behavior and should know when to go home.

Surely excluding players for copping a fine is a bit much. They made what looks like a very minor mistake, disrespected a cop or two and got fined accordingly. End of the matter imo.

Well not my decision but they know what the rules are and could have gone home quietly instead.
If excluded from Round 1 selection it does send a message to the rest of the playing group rather than do nothing.
They will get a spray from Madge maybe that's enough???

Telling a cop to go get stuffed , is hardly a new thing. I get it , they should be treated with respect , but at the end of the day , if you can’t handle someone yelling some bull at you, and that’s your line of work , you need to find another one. That job , and an ambo, you need to have a thick skin.

Sorry ,that is a bad way to look at things. No copper ambo or any others should have to put up with fools. It should be compulsory for these idiots to spend a week with these people handling druggies, domestics.with people spitting on you, vomiting on you, abusing you,and then seeing young kids and others slaughted on the roads. You live in disneyland.

Seems like he can't handle his alcohol. People like that shouldn't drink, you'd think he would learn

Yea ah lesson in life:
Addictions don't work that way.

If you know an Alcoholic who can't handle Alcahol... They will find Alcahol strangely attractive!

In my view the police handled them similar to any young fella's on the drink that had too much, locked them up for a few hours to sober up and released them with nil charges.

There mistake is that it should never have come to that but you live and learn by your mistakes at that age.

Similar thing happened to myself in my Youth, ended up in a Pub brawl in the Cross was locked up in the Paddy wagon with the guy i was going one on one with, heart sank when thrown in the back and saw he was already there with 1 of his mates.

Luckily have a granite chin that he shook hands and decided that he did not want to go on with it that night, Sobered up released within 4 hours never done it again.

Really freaken stupid. I get they are young and stupid and I get that most of us have done dumb things especially the Queenslanders amongst us but at some point you have to recognize you are a professional sportsperson and you have to play the game by the rules.

Im going to have to give you guys and gals a little professional insight into some of these incidents that happen no matter if you play NRL are a bricky or a welder....THE governing laws re RSA(responsible service of alchol)is you can be refused service if you are deemed to be intoxicated, cause or disrupt other customers or become aggressive while consuming alcohol....
Now I would just like to say that these signs are plastered all over the entrances and within the premises in clear view of patrons....if people cant read or understand those rules then maybe they should not even attempt to enter a place that sells alcohol and stay at home...
Im saying this because if your just turned 18 or your 70,the OLGR(office of liquor gaming and racing )has spent a great deal of time money and resources to educate the population on theses LAWS..they are not to be taken lightly, not only can the offending customer be heavily fined the premises can be fined and lose their license...Im not bagging either of these boys, but, education in this particular area may assist in the future for them...

These guys probably have been educated on it that are just dumb

Most footy players arent really academics.. Their focus at school is footy... Some of you guys should go to church looks like you're all looking for choirboy... You won't fin any in the nrl
.. This.nothing...no biggie... Boys. Being boys

It’s always good to get some insight from someone who was at the scene. Thanks ink.
Come to think of it , I’ve only ever been to the Coogee bay a few times and every time there was a blow up.
