Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I've watched Sezer the last couple of years in Super League.
He really doesn't do much. He's a steadying influence with a decent kicking game.
If Sullivan proves himself and looks comfortable I can see him taking over the show after about 10 rounds.

I think Bud plays a big part next season hopefully he can outplay Sezer puts us in a strong position. If one or both of the young halves put their hand up in the next year or 2 Bud could be the quality utility off the bench.
But would he be satisfied with that who know's, then there's Da Silva we have to bring him along at some point but you really need that utility on the bench as opposed to a specialist 9.

He plays 80 mins a week in cup and by attrition and rep duties plays a few games a year when Api is unavailable
Not forgetting we still have Jake Simpkin who I think surprised some people and played some real good minutes for us late last season.
He has transformed himself into playing as a 13 when required to add versatility to his game.
If we use Fainu or Sullivan as our NRL 14, it would mean Da Silva and Simpkin would be sharing the 9 role in NSW Cup.
Competition for spots will hopefully push a lot of these young players to great heights in 2024.

Fainu, Galvin and TDS are all great prospects but are still young kids with only one having played in the top grade. They will play firsts over the next few years but won't cement positions for a few years, by that time our older boys will be wrapping up with these young 18 year old boys hitting their straps. Fantastic succession planning for the future! The club hasn't looked this good for the next 10 years in a long time.

FWIW I am a big fan of TDS but don't think it helps team balance him being on the bench and playing 10 minutes. His development is better served playing 80 mins a week against men in Cup

Simpkins played 18 games last season and TDS 5 … so we will see if Benji changes the approach this year … lot of people were saying that he was actually picking the teams in 2023… like I said … time will tell

But he can set up the players around him, so hopefully our guys wake up to that and exploit the gaps. That alone would justify his contract.
I always thought that Sullivan would benefit from that as well.

Nothing wrong with giving the young guys one to two years in reserves to grow into their bodies, bed down their games, play 80 minutes a week and play against men.

We’ve done all the hard work in pathways. It would be a real shame to ruin the first couple of products due to impatience.

2023 - brooks, AD, Wakeham, smith
2024 - Sezer , Sullivan, fanu, Galvin, AD (maybe - subject recovery)
2025 - Luai, Sullivan, Galvin, fanu

We have roughly 4 halves each year, just new and improved on 2023, hardly too many halves (maybe just to much money tied up 🤷)
