James Tedesco Signs with Roosters [Official]

Didn't quite see a "slap" in there, yeah we've had off field dramas, but then so have a lot of clubs…the Dogs have certainly had their fair share.

Otherwise, he kinda seemed hopeful that Clearly has a shot at turning things around.

he didnt slam the club, he just said the facts: other teams are run powerfully whereas tigers always have off field dramas.

he acknowledges that he has been playing poorly; however reading between the lines i felt he was shifting blame for his poorer form which i dont like.

No clearer as to what he will do, hopefully he and Woods make a decision soon so as to put us out of our misery if they both do up and leave!!

I think he wants to stay but just want management to get their house in order and build up the squad. I think they are listening teddy. We just need you to be part of the changes cleary will bring.

As per usual another over-dramatized piece of journalism. Teddy stated facts. The Tigers have been a basket case behind the scenes, god knows we all know it and talk about it on here, and yes, the Bulldogs and Roosters are the two powerhouse clubs in Sydney at the moment.

We need a couple of good signings asap to show Woods and Tedesco that the club means business next year, which will hopefully entice them to stay.

You've got to love the selective memory of people.

No scandals at the Bulldogs. I must have dreamed the Salary Cap scandal and the Coffs Harbour fiasco.

But then again you have the Roosters, anyone remember Todd Carney and Mitchell Pearce? Didn't they have to sack their Recruitment Manager because he was involved in a betting on games?

I think the Tigers need to improve their perception and then the reality will change as well.

I think the media should be to blame as much as Isaac Moses for the "contract dramas" we've had lately - and prob a case of IM feeding the media to fuel the fire further.

Looking at Teddy's quotes, he hasn't "slapped the club", made anything up nor has he said anything we don't already know. He is a young bloke, with a lot of proven talent, who is speaking his mind & voicing his concerns honestly. He has clearly stated that his priority is to stay at the Tigers & he would like to see stability at the club plus some strong signings to help the team perform consistently better. Something which with the appointment of Cleary & the fixing of our cap situation, we should be able to achieve from now on (hitting the open player market this year of course).

Cleary is obviously investing a lot of time to ensure he understands the direction of the club & hopefully he will buy into this & jump on the bus.

He must know that a lot of our success is dependent on how he performs & I don't think you can question his effort over the past few rounds, just look at his stats v the dragons, its just his execution that needs to improve. But the other lads also need to put this effort in & if they don't well we need to get blokes in who will consistently.

Getting a win on the weekend v the Cows will really take a lot of pressure off. Fingers crossed for all concerned!

I love the way they chose to completely ignore his statement "obviously the preference is to stay" in the headline. The article could have just as easily been titled "Tigers still Tedesco's preferred option" but that wouldn't fit with the current agenda would it?

Absolutely agree with you. Thing is these are young men, the Coffs Harbour thing occurred when Tedesco was 11 years old. Luke Brooks watched the Tigers win a comp when he was 11 years old. There are kids in SG Ball today who weren't even born when Wests Tigers was incorporated.

Also agree with others, there are many contradictions in what Tedesco is saying, many of them. He's a good kid and a great footballer, but he is also a little naive in the way you expect a 24 year old can be.

Some examples:
- Roosters and Dogs are always going to be strong. Well no, they are not. Roosters in their history had long periods of being easy-beats. Everything in footy is temporary, even the great reign of Uncle Nick will end at some point and everything will change, maybe not within your contracted football. Both those clubs have won comps and come last in the NRL era. Dogs are absolutely, at this time Round 5 2017, not a club on a definite up.

- Said clubs are apparently run strongly from the top down. Well Dogs also cheated and were caught, don't always confuse good governance for a willingness to cheat and push the rules to your advantage. Maybe that doesn't matter, but you don't want to be caught up in the Storm / Dogs / Parra cheating scandals when they drop.

- Also wrt clubs run strongly from the top, that is hard when player power becomes an issue. Player blocks can destabilise management and… well funnily enough there is a player block right now and Tedesco is part of that. You can be 100% guaranteed if Tedesco commits to the Tigers today, half off the rumour and "stability" issues are eliminated. So James part of the instability is your procrastination - you are permitted your time to decide, but don't take the high ground when your delays are part of the issue. Your last contract decision was a mess as well, it's not exactly your strong suit.

- The "stability at other clubs is tempting". You mean stability like at the Dogs, where they are ready to release most of their roster? That's an overhaul James, nothing stable about an overhaul.

- "I think we need to make a few good signings" plus "our roster is quite strong at the moment" plus "we just haven't been consistent". Those are mutually exclusive I'm afraid. If the roster is strong, you don't need to make additional good signings, unless you mean re-signing the current strong roster. And yet that same roster is also consistently inconsistent, last on the table. If we are going to be honest James, and I'm all for it if you want to, call out players in addition to the management. Certainly take aim at what you think the club is doing wrong, but don't spare the players as well, tell us who you need to ship in order to improve the roster. Hmm didn't think you'd go there. It's easy to point fingers away from your own group.

And then yes, I agree with many, typical Fox Sports / DT sensationalisation. Tedesco has been a bit contradictory but he's not been overly inflammatory. By this I mean his comments, a little misguided, but also fairly close to the mark and not entirely unreasonable, perhaps to just choose his statements a little more carefully.

First he wants to see how we start the year (something he has control over, not the board), then he wants to wait till he finds out who the new coach is. Now he wants to wait to see how the new coach goes. Enough is enough of this crap. Don't even get me started on captain pea heart.

He's hedging his bets. If he was totally jack of this club, he'd have already signed elsewhere by now.

He does put in most, if not every, weeks so I can understand why might be wanting to hold off. He didn't really slam the club, he told a few home truths which everyone is all aware of.

I hope he re-signs, I hope we keep Woods on a sensible deal and I hope we use the remaining cap to bolster the ranks.

Hopefully we can perform up in Townsville and all aboard the bus. The problem we have is new signings might want Teddy there before they sign, a real catch 22\. We have to be competitive on saturday and show some improvement, otherwise he might jump ship.

sorry for yelling - just my pet peeve

These guys should be gaged from talking to the media till they settle their contracts. All they are doing is hurting our brand name. It seems to me that their is a bit of friction between Pascoe and the now big 2
